Privacy Policy

This is an English translation of the Privacy Policy originally written in Japanese. In the event of any discrepancy between the Japanese version and this translation, the Japanese version shall prevail.

The developer of the application "Savoro" (hereinafter referred to as the "Developer") hereby establishes this Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as this "Policy") regarding the handling of users' personal information in the services provided through the application and the website (hereinafter referred to as the "Service").

This Policy is available at all times through the app store listing and within the App (e.g., the settings screen).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

"Personal information" refers to "personal information" as defined under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (APPI), meaning information about a living individual that can identify the specific individual by name, email address, or other descriptions contained therein, as well as information that can identify a specific individual on its own (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Collection of Personal Information)

The Developer may collect the following information in connection with the use of the Service:

  1. Authentication information: Email address, authentication tokens (via external authentication services)
  2. Usage data: App usage patterns, feature usage frequency (based on user consent)
  3. Error data: Crash reports, error logs, performance data
  4. Billing information: Subscription status (payment information itself is managed by your app store, and the Developer does not retain it)
  5. Device information: Device identifiers, IP address, OS version, device type, etc. (used solely for analytics and error analysis purposes)

The Developer does not collect users' contact lists (address books), health data, credit card numbers, or other payment information.

Article 3 (Purposes of Collection and Use of Personal Information)

The purposes for which the Developer collects and uses personal information are as follows:

  1. To provide and operate the Service
  2. To provide AI features (recipe generation, translation, image generation, content moderation)
  3. To respond to inquiries from users
  4. To contact users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
  5. To identify and restrict users who violate the Terms of Use
  6. To allow users to view, change, and delete their own registration information
  7. To improve and enhance the quality of the Service (analysis of usage statistics)
  8. To improve app stability and fix bugs (analysis of error reports)
  9. For purposes incidental to the above

The Developer uses personal information only within the scope of the above purposes. The Developer will not sell personal information to third parties without user consent.

Article 4 (Changes to Purposes of Use)

  1. The Developer shall change the purposes of use of personal information only when the change is reasonably recognized as being related to the purposes before the change.
  2. If the purposes of use are changed, the Developer shall notify users or publicly announce the changed purposes through the Developer's designated method or within the App.

Article 5 (Data Sharing with Third-Party Services)

  1. The Developer will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining user consent in advance, except where permitted by the APPI or other applicable laws.
  2. The Service entrusts data to the following categories of third-party services for service provision. These constitute entrustment within the scope necessary for service operation and do not constitute "provision to third parties" as referred to in the preceding paragraph.

Each service handles data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Article 6 (Analytics and Tracking)

  1. The Service collects usage statistics data for service improvement. Collection is performed based on the user's explicit consent and can be disabled at any time from the App's settings screen. All features of the Service remain available even if disabled.
  2. The Developer does not currently engage in cross-app or cross-site tracking. If tracking is implemented in the future, the Developer will obtain prior permission through App Tracking Transparency (ATT).

Article 7 (Data Storage)

  1. User data is stored on cloud infrastructure used by the Developer.
  2. Account information and recipe data are stored until the account is deleted.
  3. The retention period for other data (usage statistics, error reports, etc.) is determined based on the specifications of the third-party services used and operational needs.

Article 8 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

  1. When requested by an individual to disclose their personal information, the Developer shall disclose it to the individual without delay. However, the Developer may choose not to disclose all or part of the information if disclosure would fall under any of the following, and shall notify the individual without delay of any decision not to disclose:
    1. Cases where there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
    2. Cases where there is a risk of significant hindrance to the proper conduct of the Developer's business
    3. Cases where disclosure would violate other laws or regulations
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, information other than personal information, such as usage history and characteristic information, will not be disclosed as a general rule.
  3. Requests for disclosure may be directed to the contact information provided in Article 20.

Article 9 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

  1. If a user's personal information held by the Developer contains errors, the user may request correction, addition, or deletion of the personal information (hereinafter referred to as "correction, etc.") through the procedures established by the Developer.
  2. If the Developer receives a request under the preceding paragraph and determines that it is necessary to comply with the request, the Developer shall promptly make the correction, etc. of the relevant personal information.
  3. The Developer shall promptly notify the user when correction, etc. has been made or when a decision has been made not to make such correction, etc., based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph.

Article 10 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information)

  1. If the Developer receives a request from an individual to cease use or delete personal information (hereinafter referred to as "suspension of use, etc.") on the grounds that the information is being handled beyond the scope of the purposes of use or was obtained through improper means, the Developer shall promptly conduct the necessary investigation.
  2. Based on the results of the investigation under the preceding paragraph, if it is determined that the request should be granted, the Developer shall promptly suspend use, etc. of the relevant personal information.
  3. The Developer shall promptly notify the user when suspension of use, etc. has been carried out or when a decision has been made not to carry out such suspension of use, etc., based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph.
  4. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if suspension of use, etc. would require significant expense or is otherwise difficult to carry out, and alternative measures can be taken to protect the rights and interests of the user, the Developer shall take such alternative measures.

Article 11 (Data Processing upon Account Deletion)

  1. Users may delete their account from the settings screen within the App.
  2. Upon account deletion, all user data managed by the Developer (recipes, images, account information) will be immediately deleted. Data retention by third-party services is subject to each service's own policies. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
  3. If you are on a paid plan, please cancel your subscription through your app store's subscription management before deleting your account. Deleting your account alone does not stop subscription billing.

Article 12 (Children's Privacy)

  1. The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. For residents of the EEA/UK, use of the Service by children under the age of 16 requires parental consent.
  2. The Developer does not intentionally collect personal information from children below the ages specified above.
  3. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has registered by mistake, please contact the Developer. The Developer will promptly delete the data.

Article 13 (Data Security)

  1. All communications are encrypted using TLS/SSL.
  2. Authentication credentials are securely managed by external authentication services.
  3. The Developer takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data. However, please be aware that no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.
  4. In the event of a breach, loss, or damage to personal information, the Developer shall promptly take necessary measures in accordance with applicable laws and notify affected parties and relevant authorities.

Article 14 (International Data Transfers)

  1. In providing the Service, user data may be transferred to and stored on servers outside Japan (such as in the United States). The third-party services used by the Developer (as listed in Article 5) are operated by entities located in the United States and other countries and regions.
  2. The data protection laws of the destination country may differ from those of the user's country of residence.
  3. The Developer shall provide information and obtain consent as required by law and take appropriate protective measures for transferred data.

Article 15 (AI Features — Important Notice)

  1. When using AI features (recipe generation, translation, image generation), the content entered by the user is sent to a third-party AI service provider (OpenAI).
  2. Use of AI features is optional. Users may also enter and manage recipes manually without using AI features.
  3. Users should avoid including their own or third parties' personal information (such as names or addresses) in AI feature inputs.
  4. Use of AI features is also subject to the terms of use and privacy policy of the third-party AI provider. The handling of data sent to such providers (including data retention periods) is governed by the provider's own terms.

Article 16 (Information for Users Residing in the EEA/UK)

The following additional information is provided to users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK):

  1. Legal basis for processing: The Developer processes personal data on the following legal bases:
    • Performance of contract: Account management, recipe storage and display, billing management
    • Legitimate interests: Error monitoring and quality improvement, prevention of unauthorized use
    • User consent: Analytics (usage statistics), data transmission to AI features
  2. User rights: Users have the following rights:
    • Right of access (the right to confirm the content of your data)
    • Right to rectification (the right to correct your data)
    • Right to erasure (the right to request deletion of your data)
    • Right to restriction of processing (the right to request limitation of data processing)
    • Right to data portability (the right to receive your data in a structured format)
    • Right to object (the right to object to certain processing)
    • Right to withdraw consent (the right to withdraw consent for consent-based processing at any time)
  3. Supervisory authority: Users may file a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority of their country of residence.
  4. Cross-border transfers: The third-party services used by the Developer maintain protective measures for data transfers outside the EEA/UK based on their respective data processing agreements.

Article 17 (Information for Users Residing in California)

The following additional information is provided to users residing in California pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA):

  1. The categories and purposes of personal information collected by the Developer are as described in Articles 2 and 3.
  2. The Developer does not currently "sell" users' personal information, nor "share" it for advertising purposes.
  3. Users may request disclosure of the categories, purposes, and third-party recipient categories of personal information collected.
  4. Users may request deletion of their personal information.
  5. The Developer will not discriminate against users for exercising the above rights.
  6. Requests may be directed to the email address provided in Article 20.

Article 18 (Changes to This Privacy Policy)

  1. The Developer may change the contents of this Policy without notice to users, except for matters otherwise provided for by law or in this Policy.
  2. In the case of material changes or changes that significantly affect users' rights and obligations, the Developer will provide advance notice via in-app notification or email. The Developer will re-obtain consent as necessary.
  3. Unless otherwise determined by the Developer, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect upon being posted within the App.

Article 19 (Notice Regarding Third-Party Personal Information)

Users are asked not to unnecessarily enter or post third parties' personal information in recipes, comments, or other content when using the Service. If it is discovered that third-party personal information has been posted, the Developer may take measures such as deleting the relevant content.
